About Us

"The Whole is Greater than the Sum of the Parts"

Like all alloys, "The Knights of Alloy" is a mixture of many different parts.  In our team mix, we embrace the unique and valuable in all team members, drawing out their strengths, and combining them to create a much stronger entity.  A key part of our team development is the connections we create amongst various parts of our community.

Team members develop amazing new skills as part of their exposure to teaching mentors, professional engineering mentors, technicians, college professors and other local mentoring talent.  Many are connected to our sponsors, as they donate personnel as well as funds to help our team survive.  In turn, our team assists our supporters with charity operations, and some of our students work for these same companies as summer and Co-Op students.  Our graduating students have gone on to many great careers, with scholarships into many Engineering, Science, Computer and Math faculties around Canada and in the States.  Returning as university graduates, these same students, now full-time employees with local Engineering companies, continue the FIRST tradition as they are now alumni mentors.  The circle is complete - those who participated in the team have reaped the rewards of their efforts and now give back to the team.

The TEAM approach to the season mirrors that of an Engineering venture - with team building and skill building making up our early season.  The ultra-stressful but rewarding build season allows our team to form engineering and manufacturing pods, that each creates a small part of the overall machine.  Like our "Alloy" name, the parts come together to make an awesome machine - with parts of each team member imbedded within it.
Surrounding our entire team operation; the overall guiding principals of FIRST and "Gracious Professionalism".  We improve ourselves by operating with respect and pride - we aim to grow, not through defeating the opposition, but from learning from their strengths and sharing our own.  Together, all teams improve and create a better overall product.
