Roberta Bondar

The Knights of Alloy is always looking for new talent in the form of mentors, coaches, teachers and student team members but was particularly pleased and proud to welcome their newest team member last season. The local ADSB robotics team gratefully welcomed Dr. Roberta Bondar, one of Sault Ste. Marie’s most famous scientists, to its lists of distinguished supporters, as Dr. Bondar joined the team as Honorary Patron.  In 2010, Dr. Bondar met us at the Mississaga Regional and spoke on behalf of all of the FIRST Robotics teams, with a very encouraging speach.

By joining the team, this world famous neurologist, Canada’s first female astronaut, esteemed university professor and famed nature photographer and environmentalist, has offered support and encouragement to this talented group of budding young engineers.  A graduate of Sir James Dunn Secondary School, Dr. Bondar added her name to a growing list of local professionals who have been assisting in many aspects of the development of our growing program.

During last year's Easter weekend GTR event in Mississauga, Ontario, the team welcomed Dr. Bondar.  She gave an inspirational speech to a thrilled audience as well as meeting teams and fans and offering insightful words of encouragement and support.

Dr. Bondar remains a staunch supporter of the Knights of Alloy.
